چکیده

A hybrid adsorbent (FOAE) prepared by loading ferric oxyhydroxide on anion exchanger was applied for adsorptive removal of Cr(VI) from water. Effects of initial Cr(VI) concentration, pH, temperature and competition of other anions on Cr(VI) adsorption were investigated in batch experiments. The equilibrium adsorption capacity (Qe) of the FOAE increased with initial Cr(VI) concentrations (from 20 to 100 mg L ) and reached a plateau at the point of 100 mg L with the Qe of 123 mg g . The optimum conditions for adsorption were determined as pH 2 and 313 K with Qe of 200 mg g. Competition effect of other anions on Cr(VI) removal can be concluded in the following order: PO4 3– > SO4 2– > Cl. Cr(VI) adsorption on both FOAE and anion exchanger followed pseudo first order kinetic. Because the Freundlich isotherm could describe the adsorption of Cr(VI) on FOAE more adequately, it can be deduced that heterogeneous adsorption occurred on FOAE.

Adsorptive Removal of Cr(VI) and Cu(II) Ions from Water Solution using Graphene Oxide-Manganese Ferrite (GMF) Nanomaterials

Chromium (Cr) and copper (Cu) are heavy metals known for their dangerous effect towards human health and could enter into human body mainly through ingestion. Over the years, different treatment methods have been used to eliminate heavy metal from raw water source and these include (co)precipitation, coagulation/flocculation, adsorption and ion- exchange. Nonetheless, adsorption is the most pro...

Natural Zeolites Application as Sustainable Adsorbent for Heavy Metals Removal from Drinking Water

Background: There are great resources of natural zeolite in Iran. Zeolite, an inorganic ion-exchanger, may be used as a suitable technical-economical solution for water treatment in many regions of Iran. In this study, the characterization of natural zeolite natrolite and the feasibility of removing hardness, cations, and anions were investigated. Methods: First, zeolite composition and type...

Batch and continuous flow studies of adsorptive removal of Cr(VI) by adapted bacterial consortia immobilized in alginate beads.

The adsorptive removal of Cr(VI) by alginate beads containing Cr(VI)-adapted Acinetobacter junii, Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis in batch and continuous packed bed column reactors was investigated. Under optimized conditions (pH 3.0; contact time, 180 min; 30 °C; initial Cr(VI) concentration of 100 mg/L), 65.86 mg/g adsorption capacity was recorded in the batch study. When an adsorbent ...
